In-house vacuum chamber and testing of the B20 Thruster
Dawn has completed the construction of its large in-house vacuum chamber. The vacuum chamber upgrade allows for the characterisation of our propulsion technologies in a space representative environment.
After completion of the chamber, hot-fire tests of the 20N thruster proved very successful, outputting a perfect clear blue flame.
These tests demonstrate that the 20N hydrazine-replacement thrusters will start up and function properly when in space. It also brings the technology level to TRL8, the highest level possible we can achieve on Earth.
The upgrade further enhances our capabilities for rapid iterations on all propulsion products. This is a major milestone in our product development roadmap.
