Next-Generation Suborbital Researchers Conference

Dawn Aerospace will be at this year’s Next-Generation Suborbital Researchers Conference (NSRC-2020), presenting to the global research community the new capabilities of Dawn’s Mk-II suborbital vehicle.

Built to enable suborbital access and hypersonic flight time, research organisations and scientists will have the chance from late-2020 to fly payloads up to 4 kg to 100 km altitude, three or four times per day on the same vehicle.

Each payload will see 180 s microgravity experiment time and velocities of Mach 3, before being returned to the same point-of-launch. Scientific payloads can be retrieved from the point-of-launch, enabling rapid development and experimentation for microgravity and suborbital research.  

Dawn is looking to meet researchers and educators at the NSRC-2020 conference, seeking valuable input and feedback on flight capabilities they need for their research and education missions (REM). Feedback is being included in an iterative development process of the Mk-II’s payload bay, ensuring a wide range of experiment types can be accommodated. 

Dawn’s Mk-II vehicle will start flying from midway 2020 in the South Island of New Zealand. An MOU has just been signed with Waitaki District Council for suborbital flights out of Oamaru Airport. Capable of flying out of any airport with a 900m-sealed runway, it works by integrating with commercial airspace - just like any other plane.
