120N Reusable rocket engine: Hotfire tests complete

A couple of months development have paid off, with our first from-scratch engine completing qualification testing.

Over 50 hotfire test burns were conducted (and 15 on a single day), without having to overhaul or conduct any maintenance on the engine.

The 120N engine is being developed for use on Dawn’s Mk-I vehicle. The vehicle is being developed to demonstrate complete reusability, aiming to conduct multiple rocket-powered flights per hour.

Proper reusability is a key requirement for our development path to space and this engine is a first step in demonstrating we can build low maintenance, completely reusable (not refurbishable) gas-and-go engines.

Dawn 3D-printed the rocket engine using additive manufacturing and in-house facilities.
